Manipulative activity
To practice counting to 100 and recognizing the pattern to count by 10s students will be given a one hundred chart, a blank one hundred chart, a set of ones number tiles, a set of tens number strips and a small empty cup. Students will work in pairs to complete activity and will use the one hundred chart provided to double check their work.
1. Partner 1 will put all the single number tiles into the small cup and cover the top before shaking up the numbers.
2. Partner 1 will then pick out 10 tiles from the cup and will need to place the number tiles in their corresponding place on the chart.
3. Partner 2 will take their turn and pick out another 10 tiles from the cup and proceed to place the number tiles in their corresponding place on the chart.
4. The students will continue taking turns until they have completely filled up the one hundred chart. Once it has been filled the students will count from 1-100 aloud.
5. For additional practice the students will then take turns picking the tens number strips to place in their corresponding place. They will place all the strips facing down in a random order.
6. Partner 1 will flip 1 strip over and place it in its corresponding place on the blank chart. The student will then count each number on the strip aloud.
7. Partner 2 will take their turn and flip over another strip to place on the chart and then count each number on the strip aloud.
8. The students will continue taking turns until they have placed all the strips on the one hundred chart. Once the chart has been filled the students will count to 100 by 10s.

technology ACTIVITY
paper & pencil activity
This fill in the blank activity will help students to practice their counting beginning with any given number. The activity should be done individually and then revised in groups. This is a great opportunity for the teacher to formatively assess each students' comprehension and knowledge of the content.

The summative assessment found below is to be used on a one on one basis to be able to get a full evaluation of each students' comprehension. The teacher will evaluate the each students' ability to recite the numbers in order and then assess if they have constructed the proper knowledge of skip counting by tens.
